While LHS does not require an appointment or a fee to surrender a pet, we greatly appreciate advance notice of your plans to surrender a pet, as well as monetary donations to help us care for your pet during his or her stay at the shelter.
If you need to surrender a pet, below are a few things to bring with/expect during your visit:
- Please bring along any veterinary records you may have, including the name and contact information for your veterinarian.
- Be prepared to complete surrender forms and provide information about your pet, to help us begin the process of finding a new, loving home.
- Understand that while we realize you will want to know what happens with your pet, we cannot provide specific updates. We help over 1,500 animals a year at LHS and are unable to provide personal updates.
