LHS serves the entirety of Manitowoc County. We understand that you may face the difficult decision to surrender a pet; we are here to make that decision less stressful for you and your pet. If you live outside of Manitowoc County, please feel free to contact us and we will make every effort to connect you with additional resources.
While LHS does not require an appointment or a fee to surrender a pet, we greatly appreciate advance notice of your plans to surrender a pet, as well as monetary donations to help us care for your pet during his or her stay at the shelter.
If you need to surrender a pet, below are a few things to bring with/expect during your visit:
- Please bring along any veterinary records you may have, including the name and contact information for your veterinarian.
- Be prepared to complete surrender forms and provide information about your pet, to help us begin the process of finding a new, loving home.
- Understand that while we realize you will want to know what happens with your pet, we cannot provide specific updates. We help over 1,500 animals a year at LHS and are unable to provide personal updates.
