Volunteer - With nearly 1,500 lost and homeless animals coming through our doors each year, volunteers are essential in helping LHS carry out its mission. There are many different ways to volunteer with LHS, both onsite at the shelter, or from the comfort and convenience of your own home!
LHS offers a volunteer orientation to acquaint you with the shelter and available volunteer opportunities. The staff members are dedicated animal lovers such as yourself who will guide you through your volunteer duties at the shelter, or options from home. By working together, we can continue to provide a safe and caring environment for our animals with the goal of finding permanent loving homes.
If you ever have any questions, please ask one of our knowledgeable staff members for assistance. We value our volunteers and want you to have a positive and rewarding experience with the Lakeshore Humane Society!
To get started, please review our Volunteer Handbook and complete the Volunteer Application or the Community Service Volunteer Application. Copies of the handbook and application are also available at LHS. Thank you for your interest in helping LHS and the amazing animals we serve!
|Onsite Volunteer Opportunities|
Caring for our animals is an around-the-clock job, 365 days a year. From cleaning to feeding to socializing, we depend on our volunteers to help make the time animals are with us as enjoyable as possible. Click here to learn more about onsite volunteer opportunities.
|Help from Home Volunteer Opportunities|
We understand that schedules are busy and you may not have time to visit us regularly at the shelter. The good news is from thanking our donors and sponsors to event coordination, we have many volunteer opportunities that can be done from the comfort of your home. Are you a night owl? An early bird? Help from home opportunities can be done on your schedule. Click here to learn more about help from home opportunities.
